Tenor Extension Facility from Dhamana
Dhamana is a subsidiary of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). PIDG is an innovative infrastructure development and finance organization funded by six governments. PIDG also supports affiliate entities such as GuarantCo and InfraZamin in Pakistan, whose products can also be found on this Directory.
The Tenor Extension Facility enhances borrower creditworthiness by mitigating lender risk in loan refinancing and ensuring timely repayment of principal and interest. Commercial banks, often constrained by liquidity mismatches and asset–liability management requirements, are typically limited in how long they can lend. Dhamana bridges this gap by enabling lenders to structure and amortize loans over extended periods—up to 15 years—while staying within regulatory limits of 5–7 years. At the regulatory transfer point, the lender may transfer the outstanding exposure to Dhamana or another participating lender. Alternatively, the lender can continue financing the borrower with the backing of a Dhamana guarantee.
