Infrastructure Refinancing Guarantee from Dhamana
Dhamana is a subsidiary of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). PIDG is an innovative infrastructure development and finance organization funded by six governments. PIDG also supports affiliate entities such as GuarantCo and InfraZamin in Pakistan, whose products can also be found on this Directory.
The Infrastructure Refinancing Guarantee facilitates the transition from bridge financing to long-term financing by mitigating default risk and enhancing lender confidence. Through this structure, a funding SPV provides the project with a long-term debt facility designed to ensure stability and continuity of financing. At the back end, the facility typically includes a bridge loan supported by a Dhamana guarantee for refinancing. Once the bridge phase concludes, the project transitions to a longer-term facility—either a bond or a loan from a different lender—also guaranteed by Dhamana. This structure strengthens project bankability, reduces refinancing risk, and promotes smoother capital recycling for lenders. Ultimately, it supports sustainable infrastructure development by aligning short-term liquidity with long-term financing needs.
